family services
Appetite to Play supports early years providers, parents and caregivers to promote and encourage physical activity and healthy eating.
Appetite to Play is a province-wide initiative to promote and encourage physical activity and healthy eating with children in the early years (birth to 5 years old) by informing, engaging and empowering the communities around them.
Appetite to Play provides many useful and practical resources to help build the capacity of parents, caregivers, early years providers, health promotion providers, and many other service providers that support young children and their families. Resources include training, ideas, games, activities, recipes, recommended practices, self-assessment tools, and other resources that can be used in a variety of settings. We have resources for caregivers to use at home, as well as for providers to use in daycare centres, preschools, and parenting programs, to name a few. All Appetite to Play resources are evidence-based and aligned with recommendations from the BC Ministry of Health.
Appetite to Play is led by Child Health BC, and developed in 2017 in partnership with the BC Ministry of Health, BC Alliance for Healthy Living, Sport for Life, Childhood Obesity Foundation, YMCA of Greater Vancouver and the BC Recreation and Parks Association.

type of service
An Elementary school is a place where the first social and community life of your child start. It becomes a second home for boys and girls, all of whom are naturally curious about the world around them, as well as excited about learning.
Teddy Academy’s curriculum is designed to build on this natural curiosity and to channel the enthusiasm of the boys into a lifelong love for learning, discovery and understanding.Throughout all four grades of our education boys and girls are exposed to a rich, broad curriculum through which they develop a strong foundation of basic academic skills, as well as a vast range of experiences in which they can learn, create and imagine, culminating in the Fourth Grade with opportunities to lead.
The program challenges each boy as appropriate and helps develop a love of reading and writing, competence in and excitement about mathematics, and the beginning skills of inquiry and research. The boys explore the worlds of music, art, and drama, giving voice to their creative spirits, and participate every day in physical activities that utilize the boys’ innate need for movement and exercise. Spanish is introduced to the boys in the 1st Grade.
