How Can You Help? Just Open Your Heart!
The heart of our community brings hope to struggling families, and opens up new horizons for our special kids. Without the generous contributions of volunteers, donors, and sponsors, we could not provide desperately needed support and services. While the Child Development Centre receives operational funding from the government, this funding is highly targeted and can fluctuate from year to year. We rely on our community to help us purchase new equipment, maintain and expand services, and reach as many children as possible with the highest level of professional and personal care. Your time, your financial support, and your love touch so many lives. On behalf of our families and special children, thank you.
Careers
The Child Development Centre offers opportunity for a rewarding and fulfilling career serving the people of Prince George and the surrounding communities. We employ a broad range of family and child service professionals, rehabilitation therapists and administrative personnel. We are also a training center that offers practical placements for students studying the following professions: Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Care and Learning, Speech Language Pathology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation Assistant.
Volunteering
Are you looking for a wonderful way to give back to your community? Consider volunteering for the Child Development Centre! Volunteering for the CDC can be a rich and rewarding experience, allowing you to use your skills and to build new ones while helping the region’s children and their families. For those that are interested in pursuing careers in early intervention (preschool) or school-aged therapy, or in early childhood education, volunteering at the CDC can provide you with hands-on experience, and real-world knowledge, that will inform and motivate you like nothing else can.
Donations
The Child Development Centre strives to utilize every resource responsibly and sustainably, including our financial resources. But the truth is, there is a constant struggle to balance service levels and available funding. This reduces the number of services and the frequency of programs we can provide. Many children and families would benefit from greater, uninterrupted access to therapy and support. Every additional dollar we receive moves us closer to reaching this goal.
You can give in honour or memory of someone you love. You can make a one-time or monthly donation. You can organize a fundraiser. You can donate five dollars and move us five dollars closer. We assure you that every donation is a cherished gift to our kids. Every donation makes a difference. And every donation makes you feel remarkably good. Enjoy it. You earned it.
Planned Giving
Has someone you care about benefited greatly from the CDC’s services? If so, please consider supporting our services to the region’s children through planned giving. Planned Giving offers a wonderful way to support causes you care about without having to provide your contribution today. Some of the many potential benefits of considering planned giving include the potential for substantial tax befits (in some instances), options to receive additional discretionary funds today for a future gift, and the ability to receive recognition today for a future gift.
Planned giving is the process of making a future charitable gift as part of a donor’s overall financial or estate planning. It offers donors a way to recognize causes that they care about and that they want to support in the future — support that generally extends beyond their lifetime.
